PREHISTORIC SECTION

The archaeological section narrates events that took place in the area through artefacts found in various sites, offering an overview of the culture and daily activities of the people who lived in the area. Starting with the Valtenesi shelter frequented from the Mesolithic/Ancient Neolithic to the Copper Age, we reach the Bronze Age, represented by finds from the San Sivino-Gabbiano pile-dwelling, part of the UNESCO serial transnational site Prehistoric pile-dwellings around the Alps.

ROMAN SECTION

In Roman times, the south-western shore of Lake Garda boasted several settlements in the form of small villages and villas; in Manerba two separate villas have been identified and, on the path that leads to the Rocca, a necropolis and traces of a rural settlement. The top of the Rocca is also assumed to be the site of a place of worship dedicated to Minerva. The museum contains various items brought to light during excavation of the various sites. These finds offer the starting point for exploring some typical aspects of the time.

LATE ROMAN & MEDIEVAL SECTION

The church and the archaeological ruins at the top of the fortress are the starting points for exploring the area between the late Roman period and the late Middle Ages. The museum preserves finds brought to light during excavations conducted over the years, allowing you to discover two sites with a long and complex history.
