Create your stamp!

All day
Duration: 2 hours

Target audience: 5th Grade of Primary School and 1st Grade of Lower Secondary School

After a visit to the Roman section and observation of the finds from the various sites, participants will delve into the meaning of the stamps on ceramics and bricks. These marks, which can be stamped or engraved, offer valuable information, generally indicating the manufacturer and provenance of the item. They also offer the opportunity to learn some details of Roman writing; the topic is also explored through the history of the epigraph dated between the first and second century AD, now reused at the base of the church’s bell tower.
Next, the participants will start from a clay base to design and create their own personal stamps, which they will “sign” using the Roman tria nomina system.
