The Rocca and Sasso Reserve: a precious treasure chest of endemic species, an open-air museum that tells the story of the landscape, nature, and history of a truly unique area.
The park covers 116,4 hectares of coastal land, including the Rocca and Sasso Nature Reserve, Monte Re and the agricultural area between Montinelle and San Giorgio, flanked by 84,8 hectares of protected waters between Porto Dusano and San Biagio Island.
Created to preserve and promote the beauty of a territory rich in history and biodiversity, this vast natural heritage is home to over 60 species of birds living across five distinct natural habitats: woodlands, dry and cultivated meadows, rocky cliffs, and wetlands.
The area’s floral heritage, characteristic of Mediterranean scrubland, is equally rich and diverse, featuring rare and unique botanical species, including native orchids.
The reserve covers an area of almost 200 hectares and consists of three main natural areas: the Rocca di Manerba, the Sasso and the Lake Park. It is a true paradise for nature lovers and anyone seeking close contact with the natural landscape of hills and lake.
The Rocca of Manerba, with its height, offers one of the most beautiful views of Lake Garda. You can follow trails that lead you to the top of the Rocca, where you can enjoy a spectacular view of the entire surrounding area. The Sasso is another unmissable panoramic viewpoint, with paths that wind through woods of holm oaks, live oaks and hornbeams, eventually reaching dry meadows.
The reserve also offers guided excursions, in which expert naturalists accompany you to explore the local flora and fauna, as well as the area’s geology and history.
The reserve is a haven for numerous species of birds, mammals and insects. It is the ideal place for birdwatchers, who can observe the peregrine falcon and the black kite, along with numerous other species that live and nest in the area.
The Lake Park is a lower-lying area that extends along the shores of Lake Garda. Ideal for quieter walks, it is the perfect place to enjoy views of the lake and the surrounding nature. Here, the lake scenery meets the area’s typical plant life, to breathtaking effect.
The lake also offers water sports such as kayaking and paddle boarding, the ideal option if you want to explore the park from a different angle.
The Rocca and Sasso Nature Reserve and Lake Park is a unique area, perfect for excursions, walks and outdoor activities, set in an unspoilt landscape with extraordinary biodiversity.
