The Lake Park of Manerba del Garda is the first initiative in Italy dedicated to the study, enhancement, and protection of the lake environment and the fish fauna of the country’s largest lake.
A unique protected area in Italy that applies to the lake environment the same level of protection typically reserved for marine coastal zones.
It covers 84,8 hectares of water surface between Porto Dusano and San Biagio Island, providing a vital habitat for numerous fish species and other forms of aquatic life.
This important conservation project aims to safeguard the lake ecosystem while also promoting scientific research and environmental awareness.
To help us protect this precious environment, we kindly ask you to follow a few simple rules.
In the park, it is forbidden to:
A charming beach nestled between San Biagio Island (also known as Rabbit Island) and La Rocca.
It opens up into a wide turquoise-green cove, offering a peaceful atmosphere and crystal-clear waters.
From the beach parking area, scenic trails branch off across the entire Nature Reserve, including one of the most breathtaking stretches of the CAI 801 trail.
To ensure the safety of swimmers, a boat-free zone has been established, clearly marked by yellow buoys.
Thanks to its privileged location in an unspoiled natural setting, Pisenze Beach is the ideal starting point for exploring the surrounding Lake Park.
By SUP (Stand-Up Paddleboard) or kayak, visitors can glide over the lake’s clear waters and discover hidden corners of the reserve—such as small coves and untouched shorelines—that are hard to reach by land.
Northeast exposure.
Sasso beach lies in the heart of the reserve, surrounded by unspoilt nature. Its size varies depending on the water level; the water is crystal clear and the rocky bottom slopes steeply a few metres from the shore. The trails to the beach are beautiful but rugged; we strongly recommend trainers or other suitable footwear.
Facing south-east, the beach is bordered by a high cliff with challenging climbing routes. Not far away, along the path running by the shore, is the exit of the Büs de la Paül, a canal built to drain water from the fields.
The small beach of Dusano is located near the ancient marina and offers extensive views of the Sirmione peninsula, Mount Baldo and the other peaks of Verona. A nearby path that runs along the entire rocky ridge to the top of the Sasso.
South-east exposure.
From the Port of Dusano a ferry allows visitors to move easily between the different locations, while enjoying breathtaking views of the lake and the surrounding mountains.
On the border area between the municipalities of Manerba and Moniga, there is a long stretch of beach that the locals have always identified with three names: the stretch that starts from Porto Dusano is called the Zocco, the section nearest the Port of Moniga is S. Sivino, while the shorter stretch that connects the two is called Scasöla.
Zocco is the location of archaeological pile-dwellings of considerable importance, and a UNESCO site.
Exposure is to the south; in certain sections the water is particularly clear thanks to the rocky bottom and the currents.
Also known as “Rabbit Island“, as in the 16th century there were numerous hares and rabbits on the island, an abundant source of food. The island is a short distance from the coast, and can be reached via the taxi boat that departs from Porto Torchio.
In particular dry periods it can be reached by foot. The island is surrounded by a stretch of rocky lake bed that drops sharply after a few metres. The green of the meadows, the shade of the trees, the fresh pure blue of the water are the main attractions for visitors. The island is privately owned and subject to an entrance fee.
The area is particularly popular for scuba diving and is accessible even to amateur divers.
Among the rocky walls, numerous fish species typical of the lake can be spotted.
Additionally, the wreck of the Airone motor vessel is easily visible just a few meters below the surface.
The winds of Lake Garda, Ora and Pelèr, offer a unique experience for sailors and nature lovers.
